Return to Current Class Schedule Mixed Media Heart Pendant Instructor: Stephani Gorman Level: All Let’s have a play day and try something new. Learn a technique using concrete to make a whimsical heart shaped pendant to incorporate into your beading designs. We will run tubing through our heart for attaching wire. We will sink bits and pieces into our hearts to bring out some interesting bits of color and textures.The second half of the day we will be experimenting with a wonderful new resin called “ICE RESIN”. We will be using it in bezels, painting it on paper, etc. Will also be making our own putty molds to pour resin into for unique charms from resin for adornments in jewelry or your mixed media work. The day will be packed full of fun and laughter while getting a lot of new information.The Pendant you started in the morning you will be taking home to finish at home with the skills you’ve learned the second half of the day! You should have at least three hearts made and ready for gift giving. The holidays are just around the corner! Celestial Necklace Instructor: Leslie Frazier Level: Intermediate The Celestial Necklace is created by weaving a base of Czech 6mm faceted firepolished beads. It is then embellished with pinch beads and seed beads, adding Austrian Swarovski crystals or pearls to the triangular centerpiece for a touch of sparkling glamour. Autumn Dreams Instructor: leslie Frazier Level: Intermediate A trio of oak leaves join to form a triangular centerpiece, accented with three charming beadwoven acorns. The sculptural leaves are formed with a unique variation of herringbone/Ndebele stitch combined with peyote stitch. The necklace is a fast version of spiraling herringbone, and is fastened with a fourth acorn. Introduction to Knitting with Thread Instructor: Bonnie Reiner Level: All Do you know how to knit? with thread?,need to brush up on your knitting skills?, than come to one of the two dates to help you get ready for the May 22nd class. Amulet Bag Instructor: Bonnie Reiner Level: Beginer/ Intermediate Come and learn to knit with thread and beads to make these stunning vintage amulet bags. These little bags are much more simple than they look and you can easily learn how to embellish them and create one of a kind amulet bags, small evening purses and wearable art for yourself or as gifts. There is homework for this class. Shoes and Mice Instructor: Huib Petersen Level: Intermediate/advanced These fun little shoes are stitched in peyote stitch. They make great earrings or, as I’ve done here a fun element in a necklace. This necklace combines the shoes with the other elements from the Cinderella tale, mice, a wand and a starry backdrop Sea Star Instructor: Huib Petersen Level: beginner/ intermediate Each leg of this ocean dweller is stitched separately in circular peyote stitch, with increases on the spine and then stitched together with a zipper stitch. By itself a great little sculpture to place any where in your home. 'Memoires du Maroc' Instructor: Anja Schlotman Level: Intermediate For this bracelet you will have to come visit us and see it displayed in the case at the store. The photograph is far from capturing the energy of elegance and sparkle created with all the Swarovski Crystals in this beautiful bracelet. Anja tells us that it was inspired by traveling through Morocco, experiencing the rich colors and shapes, especially present in the Middle-Eastern architecture, the multitude of merchandise, often handmade, and displays filled with colorful spices in the 'Souks' (Markets) of the 'Medina's' (Old Town Center). Dealie Bobs Instructor: Jo Ellen Lee Level: All Come learn to make Dealie Bobs in this fun class. You start with a peyote strip that contains a pattern or not that is then sewn into a twisted geometrical shape. It looks hard, but it is easy once you know the trick. The shapes can also be embellished before you zip up the opening. These cubes can then be used as a fob for your scissors, a cell phone leash or just placed in a pretty bowl. Dream Beach Bracelet Instructor: Jo Ellen Lee Level: Right angle weave experience The Dream Beach Bracelet starts with a simple base of right angle weave and is shaded using 3 colors, browns/oranges, whites/creams and blues. Other colors can be chosen or the bracelet can be done in one color. The base is then built upon with crystals, pearls, drops, nailheads and seed beads. The result is a stunning bracelet that looks good with blue jeans or fancy clothes. The sky is the limit. Champagne and Caviar Instructor: Teri Dannenberg Level: intermediate Wear the elegance of an evening filled with champagne and caviar on your wrist. Droplets burst forth on the surface of this dimensional bracelet to add depth and texture. Learn a new seedbead stitch to make this dazzling and supple bracelet. Basic Metal Stamping Instructor: Patrice Ballew-Zubillage Level: ALL Personalized jewelry and mixed metals are all the craze! This class is fun and easy and makes great gifts for you or your loved ones! YOU WILL LEARN some basic Metal Smithing techniques, names of tools, their uses, how to design your piece and how to correct errors. We will be using a “wire” style rivet connection and a demonstration on tube riveting will be shown, along with texturizing and dapping. To finish off your creation, we will oxidize your piece and examples of alternative methods will be explained. Herringbone Beaded Beads Instructor: Gwen Fisher Level: Advanced In this class, you will see different variations of beaded beads and pendants that can be made with the herringbone 3-cable. Explicit instructions will be provided for the Herringbone Lantern beaded bead, but students will be encouraged to try other designs for beaded beads, pendants and earrings shown in the pattern, with the instructor's help, of course. Herringbone Toggle Clasp and Cable Instructor: Gwen Fisher Level: All Herringbone is a classic bead weave that is very versatile. Typically, herringbone is woven with an even number of columns of beads. This Herringbone Toggle pattern shows how to weave just 3 columns to produce a neat and narrow cable of seed beads. We show how to add larger beads into the weave, captured and outlined by the 3 columns. By creating angles at the larger beads, we can close a piece of cable into a square to make the loop for a toggle clasp. You can weave the toggle directly into a necklace, or add a flat strip of herringbone with just 2 columns captures a jump ring, to finish the clasp. The underlying herringbone pattern is very regular, and can be repeated to make triangles, squares, pentagons, and so forth, in any size. You can also weave long lengths of the herringbone 3-cable into necklaces and bracelets. The pattern gives detailed instructions for the straight cable with captured gems and both parts of the toggle clasp. Wire Embroidery Pins or Pendant Instructor: Melanie Schow Level: All Try wire embroidery in miniature on a classy pin or pendant embellished with colored wire and beads. Lean to make wire elements, springs, scrolls and shells, and “stitch” them to the pin or pendant base along with beautiful accent beads. These are so irresistible you will probably want to make two or three! Berry Leafy Bracelet Instructor: Melanie Schow Level: all Bracelet links designed as graceful leaves wind around your wrist embellished with juicy, shiny berries. Handsome and sturdy this is sure to become a favorite accessory. Finish with a hand forged toggle and a couple more berries dangling from the closure. Scrolled Impressionist Focal Instructor: Melanie Schow Level: Intermediate Frame an impressionist style, artist’s focal bead with colorful scrolls and an elegant fall of accent beads and wire elements. This project both enhances your wire skills and opens a world of design options to you. Working with silver and enamel colored copper wire you will learn to transform art beads into dramatic art jewelry. The finished piece is self contained and ready to wear - just add a chain, or take it up a notch by finishing with a necklace of your own design. 'Wubete' Instructor: Anja Schlotman Level: Intermediate The 'Wubete' bracelet came about after watching the movie 'A Walk to Beautiful'. Wubete is one of the girls featured in the movie. The bracelet is full of color and filled with Swarovski Crystals, woven around Rivolis. Come bead with us and listen to more of the story behind this special piece as Anja briefly shares how she actually connected with a woman who knows Wubete in person fifteen minutes away from her hometown in the Netherlands. 'Parizska Street' Instructor: Anja Schlotman Level: Intermediate The 'Parizska Street' bracelet is inspired by the magic and beauty of the well known Parizska Street in the old Town Center of the city of Prague. Anja used Swarovski Crystals, metallic Cubes and carefully chosen beads to represent her experience. We hope that by creating this wonderful bracelet with us, you too will receive some of the elegance present in this incredible city of the Czech Republic. Instructions how one component can be used as a pendant will be included in the pattern. Tiny Spiral Instructor: Judy Walker Level: Intermediate This charming beaded spiral is the focal element of this beaded tube chain necklace. You will want to make more than one of these fun necklaces. Hexagonal Box Instructor: Judy Walker Level: Intermediate, knowledge of peyote stitch Learn how to create this gorgeous peacock-colored six-sided beaded box with a neatly fitting lid. The box is about 2 inches in diameter. In class we will actually make a tiny box, about an inch in diameter, like the bronze-colored box in the picture. You'll also learn to make boxes of any size you want - the lid will fit neatly, no matter what size. NanC is Coming Back !!!! NanC Meinhardt specializes in teaching off-loom bead weaving techniques, including workshops in sculpture, wearable art, and the creative process. Enjoy spending a day creating a spiraling, swirling, twirling cascade of peyote stitch ending in a burst of encrusted curl. This individual seed bead component is a burst of right-angle weave and tubular peyote stitching around a super twinkling peyote-bezeled Swarovski rivoli. Linked components come together for adornment with unforgettable color and sparkle. Expect to complete one component in a 6-hour class. Cristal Efflorsce Instructor: Rachel Nelson-Smith Level: Intermediate Knowledge of right angle weave and peyote This project has pre-work!! This piece has rivoli components that are linked together by beadwork and finished with a hand made clasp which will also be included in the instruction. Each component is made separately and then brought together. Oothecal Bead Instructor: Rachel Nelson-Smith Level: Intermediate: Ability to complete right-angle weave and tubular peyote unassisted This beaded bead is created by beading up the supporting form of the bead and then giving it some serious embellishment with more seed beads and glinting crystal. Pre-work is required. Let’s Frame it! Instructor: Stephani Gorman Level: all Let’s make a frame for a vintage tin-type photo. Students will learn to cut out a frame, give texture and add color to a substance called “Faux Bone.” We will also patina and texture copper sheeting for the back of our frame and join the three pieces together with rivets. Let’s get the saws and hammers out and have some fun! Faire Isle Neckpiece Instructor: Beginner Level: Beginner The Faire Isle Neckpiece is an elegant and comfortable to wear collar style necklace. Beads of tubular peyote are strung together on a hidden rubber cord, the clasp is also hidden so the necklace looks like a continuous strand of tubular peyote. A centerpiece of larger tubular peyote is layered to create an eye-catching piece! This is a fun class as you will learn how to make a variety of patterns using peyote stitch!! Bohemian Lace Necklace Instructor: Melanie Doerman Level: Some bead experience All things pretty and shiny are used in this necklace. Think Louis the XVI th, baroque, fancy and fun. Seed beads are used to make oval loops, flat discs, and captured rivolis that connect to form the necklace “chain.” To top it all off, a beautiful button is used as a focal point from which embellished fringe dangles. How pretty to wear with jeans or the little black cocktail dress!! Garden Trellis Instructor: Teri Dannenberg Level: All This intricate cuff bracelet is completely reversible, it is constructed of small bugle beads and seed beads to create a double-layered look. Ribbon Tie Instructor: Teri Dannenberg Level: All This beautiful lariat necklace has the look of fabric and is just as supple. You can wear it like a scarf or tie in a knot. This is a great class to take as you will be learning a right angle netting as well as a single bead right angle stitch. Sweet Pea Necklace Instructor: Huib Petersen Level: Intermediate/Advanced This necklace is a strand of wild sweet pea blossoms (filled with pea pearls) and seed pods, stitched in diagonal and tubular peyote stitch combined with the Ndebele stitch. Butterfly for Wild Sweet Pea Instructor: Huib Petersen Level: Intermediate/Advanced The butterfly graces a strand of wild pea blossoms. The body of this wonder of nature is stitched in peyote with increases and decreases to give it its shape, the wings are done in diagonal or the “Russian leaf” stitch and then attached to the body. Harp of Rochelle Instructor: Karen Wilkins Level: Some wirework helpful This wirewrapped pendant has an Asian flair due to the body of the work dangling from the main wire piece that is strung horizontally pagoda-like from a large wire loop. A pretty drop or pearl is hung from the bottom of the pendant to give it some flash! This is a pretty one!! Double Flower Lariat Instructor: Leslie Frazier Level: All These fuchsia-like blossoms are worked in a tubular swirling combination of stitches. Stamens tipped with sparkling crystals hang from their centers. The lariat is woven with Leslie's variation of the tubular Ndebele technique, which creates an attractive dimensional, spiraling surface. At each end of the lariat a calyx is formed and added to the back of the flower. Length can vary as desired. Ndebele Fantasy Bracelet Instructor: Leslie Frazier Level: All The Ndebele Fantasy Bracelet is a one-day class that features the use of multiple types of beads, with rows of graceful twists on each side of the focal area. The hand-woven bead button fits perfectly into the woven-in buttonhole for a decorative, easily fastened and very secure closure. Knot Bead Instructor: Melanie Schow Level: Pre-requisite, Whimisical Wire I/or wire experience Freeform wire bead, simple or extravagant, and always evocative. Using several gauges of wire and lots of imagination, you can create a pendant or bead links. We will construct these in several variations to build your wire skills. Finish by antiquing to accentuate the detail of these complex designs. (Take both classes for $75.00!!!) Coil Link Bracelet/Necklace Instructor: Karen Wilkins Level: All This is a great project to learn some basic wire work and come out with a fine chain link bracelet. You can make the chain into a necklace, if you want to “bling” it up add small crystals or silver beads!!!! Elegant Drapery Ornament Instructor: Judy Walker Level: All In this class students will create a beautiful ornament cover which will look exquisite on any size round or teardrop glass ornament. The cover is designed so that if the fragile glass ornament breaks, the cover would not be damaged, but could be moved to a new ornament. Mystery Weave Bracelet Instructor: Judy Walker Level: Knowledge of odd-count peyote In this class, students will create an intricate and mysterious bracelet that is built on a single unit repeated and joined. Barrel Bead Instructor: Gwen Fisher Level: Intermediate The Barrel Beaded Bead is a little over an inch long, with a hole wide enough to accommodate a chain over an eighth of an inch thick. Seed beads are used as netting surrounding larger beads, resulting in a shiny conversation piece of a bead. The class is aimed at intermediate beaders. Infinity Prisms Beaded Cubes and Captured Gems Instructor: Gwen Fisher Level: All Infinity Weave is a new technique that is similar to an embellished version of right angle weave, yet it is remarkably rigid, so is a great weave for beaded beads. Each Infinity Prism uses seed beads in two or three sizes, and tiny drop beads can also embellish the surface. The Infinity Prism is remarkably amenable to changes in bead sizes, so you can use a variety of different size beads to create different shapes, all with the same pattern. Diagrams are included for several variations. You can also capture rivolis, coins, and other round beads, and even make a bracelet. Since cubes are prisms, this pattern also provides a background discussion on basic beaded cubes and easy beaded prisms, including 62 photos and illustrations. Technicolor Art Bead Necklace Instructor: Melanie Schow Level: Pre-requisite, a basic wire class Showcase your favorite Artist’s bead in colorful wire. Choose a focal bead and several accents; add color and shape into sensuous wire scrolls. A simple chain and clasp finishes this dramatic one-of-a-kind necklace. Guinevere’s Garland Instructor: Melanie Schow Level: Some wire work experience needed Graceful tendrils of silver and hand forged leaves dripping with beautiful flowers and foliage. This necklace is an elegant combination of wire and beads. Start by bending a handsome wire armature that anchors the front half of the necklace. Complete the garland with a woodland feel using flowers and leaves or choose a more royal look by using crystals, gemstones or pearls for your embellishment. Peyote Pods 111: Open Leaf Pods Instructor: Teresa Sullivan Level: Intermediate. Familiarity with basic peyote stitch required. Create evocative, leaf-like shapes with this open, fourfold variation on peyote pods. Indulge your creative visoin with delightful variations based on simple, beautiful shape. Klimt meets Kente Bracelets Instructor: Teresa Sullivan Level: Intermediate. Some familiarity with beadwork helpful. Create stunning color, pattern and texture with these simple to make bracelets. Explore styles and colors from the beautiful Kente cloth of Ghana to the lush gilded paintings of Art Niveau painter Gustav Klimt, wherever your imagination takes you. Show your reverence for hand work with these unique earrings, which can also be used as pendants. The making of simple, beautiful earwires will also be covered in class. Curly Weave Pendants Instructor: Teresa Sullivan Level: Intermediate. Familiarity with basic peyote stitch recommended. Create sensuous curves with this simple variation on peyote stitch. Make yourwork swish and sway like ocean waves or footpaths winding through a forest. Crystal Nuggets Instructor: Teri Dannenberg Level: Beginner Make one, make a few, or make a bowlful! Use right-angle weave to construct these quick and sparkly beads. String a few on a chain or use them as links, but be careful, they are addicting to make. Dutch Spiral Instructor: Teri Dannenberg Peyote Stitch with a twist! Dutch spiral is a peyote stitch variation, mixed sizes and shapes are fun to use in this classic stitch. Make a bracelet with pretty beaded clasp and see all the many alternatives made with changing beads or counts. Cutie Pie Earrings Instructor: Gwen Fisher Level: All You can make Cutie Pie earrings using GwenOs original technique called Double Outline Stitch. Use seed beads to outline fancy beads and add wire components to finish. You can use a variety of differnt sizes and shapes for the largest beads inside the windows. You can even use 2 or 3 rondel beads inside the window, or make links for long dangling earrings. Use metallic seed beads and gemstones to make your earrings especially glamorous. In class, you will learn to make your own ear wires. The pattern is 8 pages, shows 12 different pairs of earrings and one necklace, and includes 27 illustrations and photographs. Seven Sisters Pendant Instructor: Gwen Fisher Level: Intermediate The Seven Sisters Bead Cluster resembles a glistening glass chrysanthemum. This design incorporates a variety of stitches in uncommon combinations to deliver a radially symmetric cluster of beads. A web of beads on the back allows you to add a cord or chain to the finished cluster and wear it as a pendant. Add a pin back and it becomes a broach, a hair clip lets it adorn your hair. The pattern has 13 pages and 26 color illustrations and photographs. Dancing Fan Instructor: Gwen Fisher Level: All The Dancing Fan earrings are fun to wear and easy to make. Weave a few rounds for little earrings, or keep going to make hoop earrings, flat circles, and really funky large beaded beads. In class you will learn how to make your own ear wires and how to extend this design to hoop earrings, flat circles, and funky large beaded beads. The pattern has 8 pages, including 24 illustrations and photographs. Night Sky Weave Instructor: Gwen Fisher Level: Intermediate Gwen will be teaching students an easy flat weave that can be used to make medium and wide bracelets and necklaces. Illustrated directions give instructions on how to make 2 pendants and one bracelet. Photographs show how this weave can be made any width by adding more rows. You can even include small round crystals or weave large rings right into the weave. Night Sky sews up much faster than other common flat weaves such as peyote stitch or herringbone so that you can finish a bracelet in a single day. You will also be learning several variations, including two ways to add a clasp. The pattern has 16 pages and 39 color illustrations and photographs. Squash Blossom Necklace Instructor: Karen Wilkins Level: Beginner, some wire work helpful In this class the student will use beads and wire in various sizes to create a lace-like neckpiece. This flower is so pretty, you will have fun learning how to bead it as well as wearing it! Crystal Heart Earrings Instructor: Karen Wilkins Level: Beginner After this fun-filled evening you will not only wear your lovely new earrings out the door, you will have learned all kinds of new techniques in the ART of wire work(this class is filling up fast!). Three-Sided Right-Angle Weave Rope Instructor: NanC Meinhardt Level: Intermediate, knowledge of right-angle weave What does everyone want when they create a beaded rope? Strength and suppleness! The three-sided, right-angle weave rope accomplishes these two goals BEAUTIFULLY, while offering endless possible variations. The combination of triangle beads with many other different sizes and shapes of beads will enhance the natural qualities of this triangular construction. NanC will also show you how to accomplish her new variation of three-sided, right-angle weave, otherwise known as “whistling with your mouth full of crackers.” Come join the fun! Instructor: NanC Meinhardt Level: Intermediate, knowledge of right-angle weave What beautiful beads they are! In this workshop with NanC Meinhardt, you will use right-angle weave to create sumptuous beaded beads. She will teach you how to increase and decrease in right-angle weave to shape your beadwork into beaded treasures. Each technique has its own strengths and weaknesses. Right-angle weave is at its best when used to pick up the slightest nuances of shape and form. NanC will also show you how to create floral and/or patterned beads. You will have time to develop your design skills as you learn to place colors, bringing your design to life. NanC Meinhardt NanC Meinhardt is the Queen of beadwork, and she is coming to San Luis Obispo, all the way from the Chicago area to teach for us! She's expensive, but she is well worth it! Magic Carpet Bracelet Instructor: Melanie Doerman Level: Intermediate The Magic Carpet Bracelet is a reversible bracelet, so it's like 2 bracelets in one! The bracelet is made by creating a net of right-angle weave on each side of the "links" of the bracelet and filling in the net with either fire polished or crystal beads, it is truely a looker of a bracelet! All this and you get to improve your right-angle weave skills in the process. Anja will help students use their knowledge of peyote stitch to create this beautiful and unique twist on popular frame jewelry. 'Nighttime in Jerusalem' Instructor: Anja Schlotman Level: Intermediate Moved by her experiences in the culturally rich city of Jerusalem, Anja created this stunning cuff. Unlike any other woven piece, this cuff transforms crochet techniques into bead weaving techniques drawing on a variety of stitches regarding stringing and weaving. You will be surprised how much of this piece you will be able to complete in class… Anja will also give you some insight on how to create pieces like this, resembling experiences out of your own life’s journey. Half Persian Chain Maille Bracelet Instructor: Debbie Richards Level: Intermediate The Half Persian chain maille bracelet looks like a flat, elegant chain. When created with two different colors of jump rings it looks like two chains woven together. This is a nice chain maille pattern. Done with green and red jump rings it will be perfect for Christmas. This bracelet is created by using glass slides to show off favorite photos, stamps, papers, feathers (whatever you can fit between the slides!), or small bottles with favorite items, which are bezeled and then joined to form a truly unique object of jewelry(bracelet)/art. Because it's made with slides it's a reversible bracelet. If you prefer, bezel with seed beads around a slide to create a pendant which can be hung on a necklace. This class is full of possibilities! The Wheel of Fortune Bracelet Instructor: Melanie Doerman Level: Intermediate/Peyote skills This fabulous, interactive piece uses peyote stitch for links that actually open and contain a fortune inside! Peyote Pods II Instructor: Teresa Sullivan Level: All Peyote Pods I was such a hit, we asked Teresa to please teach us the tubular peyote version. The tubular peyote pods can be made in a bazillion color combinations and make one fine bangle bracelet! But why stop with one? Two, three, or four bangles on your wrist are all the more gorgeous. Teresa also promises to teach us a special 3 drop increase/decrease as time allows. Crystal Curves Instructor: Teresa Sullivan Level: All Using peyote stitch, the student will make frilly seed bead components which are strung to form a bracelet. Additionally, crystals and beads can be strung on the bracelet to make it as casual or as dressy as you want your piece to be. Rivoli Rave Instructor: Teresa Sullivan Level: All Wow, this class gets creative with rivolis. In this class various sized rivolis will be encased in seed beads and then decorated to the beader's heart's content. These sparkly dangles can be used in necklaces, keychains, as adornment in your hair, on your purse or in your car, wherever you want to have a little bling!! Victorian Pearl Necklace Instructor: Melanie Schow Level: Some wire experience helpful In this class the student will learn how to make jump rings. After your jump rings are made, you will be joining them to create a beautiful chain maille necklace with pearl drops (or whichever type drops you like!). Knot Bead Instructor: Melanie Schow Level: Pre-Requisite: Whimsical Wire I or comparable wire experience Pre-Requisite: Whimsical Wire I or comparable wire experience Freeform wire bead, simple or extravagant, and always evocative. Using several gauges of wire and lots of imagination, you can create a pendant or bead links. We will construct these in several variations to build your wire skills. Pre-requisite of Whimsical Wire Links or other experience working in larger gauge wire. Explore a variety of links, decorative elements and techniques. Increase your skills, using the basic tools to create new shapes. Practice twisting wire to increase visual interest in your work. Add dimension, using liver of sulfur to give it a beautiful aged patina. Wire in Color- A sculptural necklace Instructor: Melanie Schow Level: Exp. with wire helpful Wire in Color – a Sculptural Necklace Intermediate/advanced wire working class Pre-requisite beginning wire work PLUS 1 -2 additional classes Start by building an armature, this serves as the base for springs, coils, scrolls and shells we will make with colorful enameled wire. Beads and other embellishments will be combined in a free-form approach, adding various elements until the result is pleasing to your eye. Complete the piece with a hand forged chain and custom clasp. God's eye Instructor: Karen Wilkins Level: Intermediate This is a colorful and tricky project that incorporates beads(Swarovski glass pearls)into the wire wrapping process. Some experience with pliers is helpful. Basic Wire Earrings and Clasps Instructor: Karen Wilkins Level: Beginner Learn how to bend the wire ,hold your tools ,make your own ear wires and clasps using fine wire. This class is aimed at beginning students. Beginning peyote Class For those who might be interested in Melanie's Beaded Locket class (happening in October) or those who just want to learn peyote stitch, Vicki would be happy to schedule a peyote class with you. Kepler Star net Bracelet Instructor: Gwen Fisher Level: Beginner Kepler's Star is a very easy flat weave that is can be used to make wide bracelets and necklaces. This pattern is suitable for beginner beaders but there are enough variations to please even advanced weavers. This weave can be made any width by adding more rows, or you can use large or small seed beads, but even larger beads can also be incorporated. Kepler's Star sews up much faster than other common flat weaves such as peyote stitch or herringbone so that you can finish a bracelet in a single day. In class, you will learn several variations, including two ways to add a clasp. Almond Drop Bracelet and Earrings Instructor: Gwen Fisher Level: Intermediate The Almond Drops pattern uses the lace overlay technique that is used in the Double Rose Window and the Sea Star pattern. A finished bracelet with 6 drops measures about 7.5 inches, while a finished bracelet with 5 drops measures about 6.5 inches. The earrings dangle 1.5 inches below the bottom of the ear wire. In this class, you will learn how to make both the bracelet and the earrings. This pattern has been popular around the shop!! Infinity Weave two (Donut) Instructor: Gwen Fisher Level: Advanced Many geometric shapes are possible with Infinity Weave, including the Infinity Donut. The Infinity Donut is a rigid lacework of beads, using seed beads and tiny drop beads. This class is suitable for advanced beaders, and you must have taken the Infinity Dodecahedron class before you take the Infinity Donut class. Infinity Weave one (Dodecahedron) Instructor: Gwen Fisher Level: Intermediate This class starts with a beginner’s lesson on the basic beaded dodecahedron with 30 beads. Next, you will make the Dodecagon Infinity Bead, a hollow lacework of beads with 12 pentagonal holes wide enough to see through. The instructions will carefully guide you through the steps for weaving a layer of beaded lace that curls into a ball. Before closing the ball, you can add a large rattle bead. Then, you bead a second layer to buttress the corners and make them rigid. You can easily scale the bead sizes with Infinity Weave. The basic weave uses beads in 2 sizes, but you can also use drops beads. This class is suitable for intermediate beaders. Summer Serenade Instructor: Huib Petersen Level: Intermediate Picture a cricket perched atop stalks of bamboo that join to form a neckpiece. In this class you will be creating the cricket and the bamboo with seed beads. Forever Spring Instructor: Huib Petersen Level: Intermediate In this class you will learn how to create daffodils with beads! The patter includes instruction on making the leaves and weaving the necklace together. Jewelry or Art? Why not both! Those of you who were here for Huib's classes in the spring know what fun the class will be. This beaded “ribbon” necklace is created with contrasting matte and shiny beads and is tied in a knot at the base. Camelot Necklace Instructor: Liz Smith Level: Intermediate Maximize your Swarovski bling as you design and create this elegant necklace featuring a new twist on an old stitch. Bracelet Instructor: Pamela Howard Level: All In this class you'll create a bracelet by joining a series of peyote stitch "donuts" using Swarovski pearls and crystals. Georgia Bracelet Instructor: Pamela Howard Level: All Tubular Ndebele, spiral and straight, and 2 drop brick stitch are used to create this bangle. The magnetic closure is hidden by the "embellished" Ndebele tube. Empress Cuff Instructor: Teresa Sullivan Level: All Delicate yet decadent, fit for a queen. Empress Cuff uses 4 successive sizes of seed beads to create a gorgeous, flexible netted cuff bracelet. Learn the art of netting with this, and also a similar cuff that combines diamond and hexagonal shapes. A beautiful introduction to netting and a fun exercise in coordinating sizes and colors. Color strategies and variations will be discussed in class. Peyote Pods I Instructor: Teresa Sullivan Level: All/familiarity with basic peyote stitch helpful When is flat not really flat? When you use these simple increasing and decreasing techniques! Without having to change the size of the beads you use, create stunning graphic effects for bracelets and iconic imagery for sculptural brooches, drop dangles, and earrings. Whirling Dervishes Instructor: Teresa Sullivan Level: All/familiarity with basic peyote stitch helpful Learn ways to make your work curve, swish and sway. With these techniques, you transform flat peyote strips into lush decoration that evokes organic growth and maybe even alien life! This embellish-as-you-go technique allows for many variations with a wide variety of beads. Each time I have taught this class, students invent their own variations on the stitch---an empowering experience. Time Machine Level: Intermediate This is a brand new pattern from one of our favorite teachers. A component of the Time Machine is the Double Rose Window. We should have this sample in the store by the end of March at the latest. Double Rose Window or ???? Instructor: Gwen Fisher Gwen will be coming down to teach her newest class on Sunday, “Time Machine.” One of the components for this piece is the Double Rose Window. Toward the middle of March we hope to have several samples of Gwen’s beadwork available. Dragon Tears Lariat Instructor: Melanie Doerman Level: Intermediate, Knowledge of peyote stitch In this class, you will use tubular peyote stitch, increasing to shape the beadwork perfectly to a large tear drop. A transition from one stitch to another will be learned to create the strap. Various embellishing techniques will be the finale to create this beautiful bracelet. Venus Flytrap Instructor: Melanie Doerman Level: Intermediate, Knowledge of peyote stitch Beautiful three dimensional shapes reminiscent of the exotic Venus Flytrap adorn this intriguing, heavily patterned piece.
